Ek microscope cheezein bada kar ke dikhata hai. Ek scale bar image pe printed ek chhoti ruler hoti hai jo batati hai ki cheezein sach mein kitni badi hain. Yeh formula kyun? Agar ek 5 μ m cell 50 μ m wide draw ki gayi hai, toh reality ka har micrometre kagaz pe 10 micrometres ban gaya. Woh "10" hi magnification hai. Toh magnification literally image-per-real hai, ek stretch factor.
Intuition Scale bar sach mein kya batata hai
Scale bar image pe ek line hoti hai jis par label hota hai ki woh kisi real length ko represent karti hai (jaise "10 μ m "). Woh drawn line us label ki image size hai. Toh ek scale bar tumhe ek ready-made ( I , A ) pair deta hai — M dhundne ke liye perfect.
Steps:

Common mistake Divide karne SE PEHLE units match karne chahiye
Galat idea (sahi lagta hai): "Bar 20 mm hai, label 10 µm kehta hai, toh M = 20/10 = 2 ." Yeh sahi lagta hai kyunki tumne do numbers divide kiye.
Kyun galat hai: tumne mm ko µm se divide kiya — alag units. Yeh ratio meaningless hai.
Fix: pehle ek unit mein convert karo. 20 mm = 20000 μ m , toh M = 20000/10 = 2000 × .
Mnemonic Unit ladder (NICHE jaana = ×1000)
m → mm → µm → nm , har step mein ×1000 chhoota hota jaata hai.
"M ake m icro n ano" — aur 1 mm = 1000 µm = 1 000 000 nm .
Worked example 3 — Pehle Forecast, phir Verify
Forecast: Ek bacterium 2 μ m lamba hai, M = 8000 pe dikhaya gaya hai. Compute karne se pehle uski image length mm mein predict karo.
Guess: 2 × 8000 = 16000 μ m … yeh hai 16 mm . Plausible lagta hai (ek fingernail ki width jitna).
Verify: I = M × A = 8000 × 2 = 16000 μ m = 16 mm . ✓ Forecast confirm hua.
