Intuition Ocean Analogy (YE KYUN ZAROORI HAI)
Dow ne market ko samundar ki tarah imagine kiya. Primary trend tide hai (lambi, dominant direction). Secondary trend un waves ki tarah hai jo tide pe sawa hain (temporary counter-moves). Minor trend har wave pe bani ripples hain (noise). Agar tum sirf ripples dekhoge, to tumhe lagega paani chaotic hai; thoda peeche hato aur tide clearly dikhai degi. Trends nested timescales pe exist karte hain — aur tumhara kaam ye identify karna hai ki tum kaun sa trend trade kar rahe ho.
Hum numbers memorise nahi karte — hum structure derive karte hain.
Intuition Hierarchy ko human behaviour se derive karna
Step 1 — Trends exist kyun karte hain? Prices collective expectations ko reflect karte hain. Fundamentals mein bade shifts (earnings cycles, interest rates, macro sentiment) dheere dheere badlate hain, quarters/saalon mein. Isliye dominant force slow hai → ek lamba primary trend milta hai.
Step 2 — Counter-moves (secondary) kyun hote hain? Bull market mein bhi, prices bahut zyada aur bahut tezi se badh jaate hain. Profit-takers bechte hain, fear spike karta hai → ek pullback . Lekin underlying slow force reverse nahi hui, isliye pullback partial aur temporary hota hai → ye hai secondary trend.
Step 3 — Secondary sirf move ka kuch hissa kyun retrace karta hai? Agar ek correction 100%+ retrace kare, to wo primary reversal hai, correction nahi. Isliye definition ke hisaab se secondary ek fraction (⅓–⅔) retrace karta hai. Ye koi magic nahi hai — ye woh boundary hai jo "correction" aur "reversal" ko alag karti hai.
Step 4 — Minor kyun hota hai? Din-pratidin supply/demand, news blips, single bade orders. Random, kam information wala → "noise."
Pehle zoom out karo. Weekly/monthly charts dekho → higher-highs / higher-lows (uptrend) ya lower-highs / lower-lows (downtrend) structure use karke primary direction dhundho.
Phir zoom in karo. Jo move primary ke against jaaye aur weeks tak chale = secondary. Jo move kuch din chale = minor.
Upar diya retracement math use karke confirm karo.
Worked example Example 1 — Bull-market pullback ko classify karo
Ek stock ₹100 (low) se ₹160 (high) tak 8 mahine mein chadhta hai, phir 4 hafte mein ₹140 tak girta hai.
R compute karo: R = 160 − 100 160 − 140 = 60 20 = 0.33 .
Ye step kyun? Hum measure karte hain ki primary gain ka kitna hissa wapas diya gaya.
Duration check: 4 hafte 3-hafte–3-mahine ki window mein fit hota hai.
Verdict: intact primary uptrend (₹100→₹160) ke andar classic secondary correction hai. Primary abhi bhi up hai.
Worked example Example 2 — Jab ek "correction" actually reversal ho
Same rally ₹160 tak. Ab price 6 hafte mein ₹95 tak gir jaati hai.
R compute karo: R = 160 − 100 160 − 95 = 60 65 = 1.08 .
Ye step kyun? R > 1 matlab price prior primary low (₹100) se neeche chali gayi.
Verdict: ye secondary nahi hai — higher-low structure toot gayi ⇒ primary trend down ki taraf reverse ho sakta hai. Math woh flag karta hai jo aankhon se chhoot sakta hai.
Worked example Example 3 — Minor trend (noise) ko spot karna
Example 1 ki ₹140 correction ke andar, stock ₹140→₹146 bounce karta hai 3 din ke liye, phir fir girta hai.
Duration: 3 din ⇒ minor trend .
Ye step kyun? 3 hafte se kam aur current secondary ke against ⇒ noise hai, tradeable structure nahi.
Verdict: primary/secondary analysis ke liye ignore karo; sirf bahut short-term trader ko isse matlab hai.
Common mistake "Aaj market 5% gira, to trend reverse ho gaya!"
Ye sahi kyun lagta hai: ek bada red day feel mein decisive aur emotional lagta hai. Galti: ek din (minor trend) ek primary trend ko nahi palat sakta jo mahino mein bana. Fix: duration + retracement test lagao. Ek single-day drop jo price ko prior primary low ke upar rakhta hai, woh zyada se zyada minor wobble hai.
Common mistake "Secondary aur minor same hain — dono bas 'down moves' hain."
Ye sahi kyun lagta hai: dono primary ke against jaate hain. Galti: dono duration aur significance mein alag hain — secondary = weeks & meaningful (⅓–⅔ retrace); minor = din & noise. Fix: label lagane se pehle hamesha poochho "Kitna lamba, aur kitna deep?"
Common mistake "70% ka deep retracement theek hai, abhi bhi sirf correction hai."
Ye sahi kyun lagta hai: usne abhi low nahi toda abhi tak . Galti: ~⅔ ke baad, full reversal ke odds tezi se badhte hain; tum danger zone mein ho. Fix: >⅔ retracements ko warning maano, risk tight karo, aur prior low watch karo.
Recall Quick self-test (answers chhupa lo!)
Dow ki analogy mein "tide" kya hai? → primary trend.
Typical secondary retracement range? → primary move ka ⅓ to ⅔ .
Primary ke against 5 din ka move ___ trend hai? → minor .
R > 1 kya imply karta hai? → correction ne prior low toda ⇒ possible primary reversal .
Recall Feynman: ek 12-saal ke bachche ko samjhao
Socho tum ek lambi seedhi chadh ke pahadi ke upar ja rahe ho — ye hai primary uptrend . Kabhi kabhi tum kuch kadam neeche aate ho saas lene ke liye — ye hai secondary move, lekin tum ab bhi upar hi ja rahe ho overall. Aur kabhi kabhi tum ek step pe sirf apna pair hilate ho — ye hai minor move, bilkul important nahi. Ek hilane par panic mat karo aur sochne lago ki tum waapas neeche ja rahe ho!
Tide, Waves, Ripples " → P rimary T ide (years), S econdary W aves (weeks), M inor R ipples (days). Ya: P ee-S ee-M inor = P arent, S ubordinate, M icroscopic.
Dow ke teen trend classifications kya hain? Primary (major, long-term), Secondary (intermediate correction), Minor (short-term noise).
Primary trend typically kitne time tak rehta hai? Roughly 1 saal se kaafi saalon tak.
Secondary trend kitne time tak rehta hai? Lagbhag 3 hafte se 3 mahine.
Minor trend kitne time tak rehta hai? 3 hafte se kam (aksar kuch din).
Secondary trend primary move ka kitna fraction typically retrace karta hai? One-third to two-thirds (⅓–⅔).
Dow ki sea analogy mein primary/secondary/minor trend kya represent karta hai? Tide / Waves / Ripples.
Retracement fraction R define karo. R = (P_H − P_c) / (P_H − P_L), primary move ka woh portion jo wapas diya gaya.
R > 1 kya signal karta hai? Price prior primary low se neeche gayi ⇒ possible primary trend reversal, sirf secondary nahi.
Kaun sa trend "noise" maana jaata hai aur easily manipulated hota hai? Minor trend.
Ek single bada down-day primary trend ko reverse kyun nahi kar sakta? Ek din minor move hai; mahino mein bana primary trend reverse hone ke liye sustained, structural break (broken lows) chahiye.
₹100→₹160 ki rally ₹140 tak pull back kare to R kya hai aur ye kya hai? R = 20/60 = 0.33 → ek healthy secondary correction.
retraces one-third to two-thirds
R over 1.0 breaks prior low
