Endocytosis KYA hai?


Cell ko yeh kyun chahiye?

Functions:

  • Immune defence — white blood cells (neutrophils, macrophages) pathogens ko engulf karke destroy karte hain.
  • Nutrient uptake — single-celled organisms (e.g. Amoeba) phagocytosis se feed karte hain.
  • Recycling & signalling — receptors, cholesterol (LDL), hormones ko andar lena.

Yeh kaam kaise karta hai? (First principles se derivation)

Hum mechanism ko ek fact se build karte hain: membrane fluid hai aur cell ke paas ek cytoskeleton (actin) hai jo push kar sakta hai.

Step 1 — Recognition. Membrane par receptors target se bind karte hain. Yeh step kyun? Cell ko random cheezein nahi nigalni chahiye; binding batata hai ki "yeh food hai / ek pathogen hai."

Step 2 — Membrane invagination. Actin filaments aur motor proteins membrane ko remodel karte hain taaki woh andar ki taraf fold ho (phagocytosis) ya dimple bane (pinocytosis). Yeh step kyun? Particle ko gherne ke liye membrane ki surface curving ko uske chaaron taraf increase karna padta hai — yeh mechanical work hai, isliye ATP chahiye.

Step 5 — Lysosome se fusion (phagocytosis mein). Phagosome ek lysosome se fuse ho jaata hai → phagolysosome. Digestive (hydrolytic) enzymes contents ko break down karte hain. Yeh step kyun? Engulfing tab tak bekar hai jab tak cargo ko usable molecules mein digest ya destroy na kiya jaaye.
